The Golden Lions Rugby Union lost one of their stalwarts on Saturday morning with the passing of one of their liaison officers, Herman Watson in a motorcycle accident enroute to Durban. Herman had been a liaison officer for the Golden Lions for the last ten years since 2006 escorting visiting teams ahead of their matches at Emirates Airline Park. Before that he was a barman in the Presidents Suite.
Herman was popular with the New Zealand sides and this year was no exception when the Hurricanes specifically asked for him. He always dreamed of owning a Harley Davidson and recently managed to get one. He joined the Harley Davidson Clearwater chapter and enjoyed many happy hours on the road with them. He worked at Transnet and leaves his wife Pat and two daughters.
