At the Lions, we believe our role in the community extends far beyond the rugby field. Our commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those around us is at the core of everything we do.
At the Lions, we believe our role in the community extends far beyond the rugby field. Our commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those around us is at the core of everything we do. Through a variety of programs and initiatives, we strive to support and uplift our community, ensuring that we contribute to its growth and well-being.
It was extremely heartwarming to be a part of helping an incredible young man realise one of his biggest dreams this past weekend at Emirates Airline Park. Nkosi Mnikazi, a charismatic 17-year-old with an infectious smile, loves all sports and has a passion that shines through despite any physical limitations. Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (Spastic Diplegic) as a baby, Nkosi lives at Lambano Sanctuary and receives weekly therapy.
Nkosi’s enthusiasm for rugby is unmatched. He has always been a huge fan of the Lions and truly admires the Springboks. His dedication to the sport is an inspiration to all, and his presence brings joy to everyone around him.
Recently, the Lions had the honour of spending time with Nkosi after their Carling Currie Cup fixture against the Hollywoodbets Sharks from Durban. It was moving to see our players interacting with him. The smiles shared moments reminded us all of the profound impact a small gesture can have.
As a franchise, we are committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals like Nkosi. It is stories like his that fuel our passion for community engagement and remind us of the importance of giving back. We are grateful for the opportunity to support and uplift our surrounding area, one small gesture at a time.
Together we can continue to make dreams come true and create lasting, positive impacts on the lives of those around us. Thank you for being a part of our journey and for supporting Lions Rugby both on and off the field.
