Lions players Jordan Hendrikse and Henco van Wyk have both been nominated for this year’s SA Rugby prestigious awards.

Featuring in two categories namely the Young Player of the Year and Junior Springbok Player of the Year, the Emirates Lions pivot has had a remarkable year, playing a key role in both the Carling Currie Cup and Vodacom United Rugby Championship campaigns.

“I’m very grateful for being nominated. I will continue to strive for consistency and more importantly, grow as a player,” an excited Hendrikse said.

It’s a family affair for the Hendrikse clan, in a Young Player of the Year category which sees older brother Jaden also being recognized.

Joining Hendrikse in the Junior Springbok of the Year category is exciting midfielder Henco van Wyk. It’s been a stellar year for the Monument matriculant. He made his debut for the senior team in Round 10 of this year’s Carling Currie Cup against the Toyota Cheetahs and recently added a SA Rugby U20 championship medal to his cabinet, playing an instrumental role in the Lions’ title win.

All winners will be announced in 2022.
