LIONS SECURE THE CAPITAL ACCOMMODATION DEAL

The Lions Rugby Company is proud to welcome The Capital Hotel & Apartments as the official accommodation partner.

The deal, which runs until 2025, sees the apartment hotel brand, who are the fastest-growing owner-managed luxury apartment and hotel room provider in South Africa, as the official accommodation partner to teams under the Johannesburg-based rugby franchise.

This partnership is a continuation of the journey the hotel group currently has with the Golden Lions Rugby Union, which serves the development of school, club and women’s rugby in the region.
The current deal will see the Lions’ senior, Craven Week and women’s teams stay at the hotel group’s wide range of modern accommodation offerings during in-season competitions.

“This rugby sponsorship is close to my heart. I grew up playing and watching rugby and now it’s a privilege for me and our business to be a part of this partnership. We love having the teams at our hotels and it’s always a vibe when a guest spots one of the players nearby,” says Garnet Basson, Chief Operations Officer at The Capital Hotels & Apartments.

“We look forward to welcoming the Lions rugby fans to our hotels around the country,” he added.

Ellis Park Stadium Managing Director, Pieter Burger:
“We are proud to be associated with a forward-thinking brand such as The Capital Hotel Group. Strategic partnerships such as these make a positive impact to the overall sustainability of professional sport. It’s also an opportunity for our players to experience the luxury this group has to offer especially with the demands of local travel and schedules.”

“On behalf of the Lions family, we would like to thank The Capital Hotel & Apartments for their continued support, in a partnership which has gone from strength to strength,” he concluded.
