The Emirates Lions came close to securing a second win on tour after falling short against Glasgow Warriors in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship (VURC) in Glasgow on Saturday.

Captain Burger Odendaal expressed his team’s disappointment post-match whilst heaping praise on the effort put in.

“The guys gave their all out there today. I believe we made massive improvement from last week, so not getting the result was a bit disappointing.”

The inside centre further went on to say that his team challenged the opposition at crucial areas on the field.

Echoing his skipper’s words, head coach Ivan Van Rooyen was impressed with his team’s defensive effort at Scotstoun.

“I think defensively we had a good outing today. The guys brought their physical presence when it came to guarding our try-line,” commented Van Rooyen.

“Our kicking game was effective which allowed us to put them under a bit of pressure at times. There were plenty positives today, which we’ll take into next week,” he concluded.
